Project – Lake House

I was very excited to be selected to do the photography of this large, elegant lakefront home for Martin Brothers Contracting of Wakarusa IN who designed and built the home.

Doing the photography presented several challenges. The first challenge was time. We had access to the home for 1 day and needed to get shots in variety of areas around the property. The client, Martin Brothers, needed a wide selection of images to show their design and construction talents as well as the talent and creativity of the sub-contractors who worked on the project.

We spent a total of 12 hectic hours moving from inside to outside and back several times as the sun moved across the property. Because it was a clear, bright, cloudless day I shot many of the exterior images several times to capture the home and details under different lighting conditions. The interior shots were especially challenging because so many areas of the home needed to be photographed. Set ups had to be picked up and moved from one area of the house to another several times to capture the best lighting inside the home also. Because of the large number of shots required there was not time to set up complex lighting arrangements. Any additional lighting that was used came for a single hand held strobe and was bounced to enhance the available light.

When the day was done I had over 400 images to sort and make final selections from. When the project was complete I had selected 94 images that I made minor post production adjustments to using Adobe Bridge and Photoshop.
